Our Mission
Healthcare should work for patients, but it doesn’t. In their time of need, they call down outdated insurance directories. Then wait on hold. Then wait weeks for the privilege of a visit. Then wait in a room solely designed for waiting. Then wait for a surprise bill. In any other consumer industry, the companies delivering such a poor customer experience would not survive. But in healthcare, patients lack market power. Which means they are expected to accept the unacceptable.
Zocdoc ’s mission is to give power to the patient. To do that, we’ve built the leading healthcare marketplace that makes it easy to find and book in-person or virtual care in all 50 states, across +200 specialties and +12k insurance plans. By giving patients the ability to see and choose, we give them power. In doing so, we can make healthcare work like every other consumer sector, where businesses compete for customers, not the other way around. In time, this will drive quality up and prices down.
We’re 18 years old and the leader in our space, but we are still just getting started. If you like solving important, complex problems alongside deeply thoughtful, driven, and collaborative teammates, read on.
Your Impact on our Mission
Zocdoc 's most important asset is our people. As Director, Marketing Data Science, you'll own the measurement strategy that determines how Zocdoc invests in reaching patients and providers. Your work will directly shape how we allocate marketing resources across B2C patient acquisition, B2B provider marketing, lifecycle, and brand — ensuring every dollar drives measurable impact on our mission to give power to the patient.
This is a greenfield opportunity. You'll define what a rigorous, unified marketing measurement function looks like at Zocdoc — then build it.
You'll enjoy this role if you are…
Personally motivated by solving hard measurement problems where the right answer requires building new methods, not just applying existing ones.
The kind of data scientist who builds models, not just reviews them. You want to be hands-on with MMM, MTA, and incrementality testing — not managing from a distance.
Genuinely curious about the frontier of marketing measurement. You follow how the field is evolving (privacy changes, signal loss, new causal inference approaches) and have informed opinions about what actually works.
Energized by building something new. You'd rather define what "good" looks like for a measurement function than optimize an already-mature one.
Comfortable partnering directly with senior marketing leaders and translating complex statistical concepts into investment decisions they can act on.
Excited about working with cutting-edge GenAI tools and technology to accelerate analytical workflows.
Serious about your work, but not about yourself. Let's face it — the way things are going, you kind of need a sense of humor.
Your day to day is…
Full ownership of Zocdoc 's marketing measurement strategy: attribution, incrementality, and ROI measurement across all channels and business lines (B2C and B2B).
Hands-on development of the team's most complex analytical work: media mix modeling, multi-touch attribution, incrementality and lift testing, LTV modeling, and brand measurement.
Partnering with the CMO and marketing leaders to translate strategy into analytical frameworks and surface insights that change investment decisions.
Building deep understanding of Zocdoc 's patient and provider audiences to inform segmentation and targeting strategy across B2C and B2B.
Managing and developing a team of Staff+ data scientists and junior managers, providing technical direction and career development.
Designing and executing marketing experimentation programs: geo-based holdout tests, incrementality experiments, and causal inference methods that move decisions from correlation to causation.
Standardizing marketing measurement methodology across channels and business lines to produce consistent, defensible results regardless of context.
Working with cutting-edge GenAI tools and technology to accelerate measurement workflows and expand team capacity.
Collaborating with data science and data platform teams to ensure measurement infrastructure is reliable, well-governed, and integrated.
You'll be successful in this role if you have…
An unrelenting desire to build more equitable, inclusive, and diverse workplaces. You view this role as an opportunity to create positive change.
8+ years in data science or quantitative marketing, with at least 3 years focused on marketing measurement (MMM, MTA, incrementality, causal inference applied to marketing problems) at a B2C technology company.
A track record of personally building and executing complex measurement models in production — not just overseeing others' work.
Deep expertise in the core methods: media mix modeling, multi-touch attribution, incrementality and lift testing, and causal inference at scale.
Experience managing or technically leading a small team of data scientists, with demonstrated success developing talent and raising technical standards.
Experience partnering with senior marketing leaders (VP+ or C-level) as a trusted analytical advisor, translating statistical findings into investment recommendations they act on.
Familiarity with the evolving measurement landscape: privacy-driven signal loss, walled garden limitations, and emerging attribution approaches.
The ability to integrate generative AI tools into daily workflows to automate tasks, foster innovation, and maximize productivity.
Strong communication skills — you present results in terms of investment decisions, not statistical abstractions.
The mentality of an entrepreneur/owner and a strong bias to action.
Humility. You believe in treating all people with dignity and respect, regardless of title or tenure.
B2B marketing measurement experience is a strong plus, but not required.
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Economics, Physics, or a related field is required. A Master's degree or PhD in a quantitative field is a plus.
